CHAPTER XXII – Rude Awakening

We were taking a short break from what had become an exciting Session…

Chi, our/Trevor’s Elven Ranger, had been captured by Orcs, probably the most exciting thing we as a group had yet to experience…

“Ok, so Stacy, your Warrior Stigus Leveled,” spoke Johnny.

“Yup, my Max Hit Points are now 21, instead of 11… And I’ve got ‘ACTION SURGE’ which basically allows me to take an extra Action once per Short Rest,” she explained.

“Awesome!” exclaimed Johnny.

“Now lets get back into our Tale…” Johnny concluded.

When Tor-Atimus’s eyes opened he knew something was wrong…

Chi hadn’t woke him for his watch.

Tor-Atimus looked around, “CHI!” he yelled, not caring that it would likely wake the rest of the Party.

Kinner, our Drow Bard was first to wake, followed immediately by our Leader, Zahn, a Cleric of Apollo.

“What is it! What’s wrong…” spoke Kinner.

“It’s Chi… He’s not here…” frantically replied Tor-Atimus.

“CHORUS LUMINA!” proclaims Kinner, and suddenly four glowing bright green orbs appear around the camp, lighting up the surrounding area.

Zahn starts to check for tracks…

“Here!” Tor-Atimus hollers.

By now the rest of the Party has awoken.

With tears of anguish in his eyes, Tor-Atimus gazes at Zahn, “It was Orcs…”

OUT OF GAME

“And that’s where we’ll end our Session, ” speaks Johnny.

Everyone is so riled up, yet tired.

“Where are you Chi! Where are you!” Barry says to Trevor, whilst shaking both of his shoulders.

Trevor just shrugs.

“What a great game,” speaks Stacy’s friend Lisa.

“I’d invite you to join, but we’ve already got 6 players, including myself,” explains Johnny.

“I’ll likely be out of commission next week cuz my Ranger’s been captured, she can run the slave girls,” interjects Trevor.

“True… True… Alright, be here next week!” Johnny exclaims.

CHAPTER XXI – Captor

On the 8th day of travel, the Party moved across the Drudgek grasslands North West of Drudgek Keep.

No one made an effort to speak to the Barbarian Faren, as he rode up the rear of the group.

The Marching Order was Stigus and Chi in front, with Zahn and Tor-Atimus behind them.

And then the two slave (now free) girls, named ZARA and PRIN.

Behind them, the Bandit (now ex bandit), TOTO.

Behind him was Ren and Kinner…

…and then Faren.

When they made camp, Stigus would take first watch, but Faren would secretly be awake as well.

Within the first hour of watch, Stigus heard a crunching sound coming from some 30 feet from camp.

She moved into the dark, her Darkvision made it easy to see, and she quickly came across an Ogre eating a Deer.

Unnoticed by the Ogre, she backed her way back into camp and woke Tor-Atimus and Chi…

…both who spoke the language of ‘Giant’, which is what Ogres also speak.

Tor-Atimus went out to the Ogre, and was able to convince it to move on…

…it took its deer with it.

“I must say, traveling with you Tor-Atimus, being a Half Orc, does change things a bit…” spoke Stigus.

“Orcs and I have never gotten along… But I consider you a friend Tor-Atimus,” added Chi, who stuck his hand out.

Tot-Atimus grimaced, and shook it.

“I do believe it’s my watch,” continued Chi.

All was quiet on Chi’s watch, until…

…out of nowhere two Orcs ran into the camp, covered the Elven Ranger’s mouth, and fled the camp with him.

Once some 40 feet away from camp, they tried to knock Chi unconscious, but his Elven slyness allowed him to out maneuver them…

Suddenly a third Orc came leaping at him and Chi ducked completely, causing the Orc to tumble on the ground.

A forth then came, but he dodged him as well…

…unfortunately Chi did not see the fifth behind him, who knocked him out with a rock to the head.

CHAPTER XX – Faren

When the Party reached the outside of the Barbarian Keep, Zahn brought them to a halt…

“Tor-Atimus,” Zahn spoke, as he gestured towards a large sack on Tor-Atimus’s horse.

Tor-Atimus grabbed the sack, and Zahn reached inside and pulled out 20 gold, “Here you are,” he handed it to Ren…

He went on to hand each of them, other than Tor-Atimus, 20 gold each.

“As promised…” spoke Zahn.

Each of them looked pleased.

Suddenly the blond Barbarian that had lead them to the Keep appeared.

“Noria wishes me to travel with you,” he spoke.

Zahn looked at Tor-Atimus who had no reaction.

OUT OF GAME

“I’d like to roll INSIGHT for Zahn,” spoke Mike.

“Alright,” replies Johnny.

“I rolled a 14,” Mike spoke.

“Alright, add your Proficiency Bonus of +2, because you’re proficient in Insight, and add your Wisdom Modifier,” explained Johnny.

“Alright, that’s 20 then,” spoke Mike.

“Nice,” I (Connor) spoke.

“Woot,” exclaimed Barry.

“There’s something he’s not telling you,” spoke Johhny.

Zahn put his hands on both of the Barbarians shoulders, “Why does Noria want you with us.”

Zahn’s eyes looked intensely into the Barbarian’s eyes, causing him to sweat.

“I… Can not say,” he replies.

All seem amused, save Chi, who looks at the Barbarian suspiciously.

“I can say, he does not mean any of you any harm… More than that, and he will have my head,” explains the Barbarian.

“What is your name?” questioned Zahn who now released his shoulders.

“FAREN… I am Faren,” he replied.

Zahn looks at Tor-Atimus, “See what you can get from the Barbarian Prince (Noria)… Meanwhile, we’ll prepare the horses.”

Tor-Atimus nods, then heads back into the Keep.

Once inside Tor-Atimus approaches the Barbarian Prince, Noria…

“Why do you want your man with our Party?” he questions.

A black panther is at the Prince’s side, where it was not before.

He strokes its’ head, “I’m curious about your Cleric Zahn… And his God, Apollo… It’s purely for diplomatic purposes,” he finishes with a gleam in his dark blue eyes.

He’s lying, thinks Tor-Atimus to himself.

“And if we decline,” replies Tor-Atimus.

The Prince smiles, “Well, I will have him follow you either way… And… I will be insulted.”

Tor-Atimus pauses, then nods, “Very well… I shall tell Zahn, and you will have our answer.”

Tor-Atimus nods, and leaves the Hall.

“Such insolence,” speaks the Prince under his breath.

He then waves over one of his Elite Guards, “Send 6 or our Archers to follow from a distance… Tell them to do nothing unless I tell them to… Send them with a Messenger Hawk.”

The Elite Guard nods, then departs.

Tor-Atimus tells Zahn what the Prince said, and how he was hiding something, and he decides to take Faren with them…

Meanwhile Stigus has gotten a horse for the Bandit who joined their Party, and two more for the Slave girls who also wish to travel with them.

Noting this, Zahn nods at Stigus.

“We’re heading to the ‘uncharted’ Region of THAEN,” speaks Zahn, and the Party departs…

…following shortly after, 6 Barbarian Archers.

Frost Rhealm Has Arrived!

In April of 2017, I began creating my First Ever Dungeons & Dragons (5e) Module, ‘Frost Rhealm’. (Check out how it came to be, HERE)

After 6 months of working on it, I stepped away from Social Media (Twitter & The D & D Community) for 15 months (Kept playing D & D), then returned this January.

Since then I continued working on ‘Frost Rhealm’, and have at last Published it!
