Monsters Of Feyland 2 (The Well Of Dreams) – In Review

Back in February 2019 I Reviewed Cawood Publishing’s first Feyland 5e Book (Here’s That Review)

I’m looking forward to check this out!

The first book was both fun and useful

In fact Cawood’s books are one of the four main Publishers that I inhabit my Homebrew Worlds with (I have each of these Books, 2 PDF & 2 Printed I believe)

Right off the bat, this book is more than just a ‘book of monsters’, Andrew offers bits and crannies about the land, and Game Master Advice

I’ve always loved Cawood’s Art, it really sets the mood & theme (Illustrated by Travis Hanson)

Amazing, one of my favorites from any of their books

Wow, this book is blowing me away…

Kind of awestruck as I sit here going through it

You never really expect a ‘book 2’ to affect you like the first, but this one definitely is

Creature, after creature after creature, each as alluring as the next

Man this books got me hooked

I have to say, these images really do the talking for me

Lots of cool areas

In the back, a list of Monsters by Type & Monsters by CR

*************************

Wow, what can I say, great job Andrew, Travis & Gordon McAlpin (Graphic Designer)… Plus all else involved

As a Dungeon Master, this book really pulled me in!

DORAGON-

Living In Another World – World Of Warcraft (2006-2011)

Part of my past…

The Written Word

In 2005-06, I got a job working at a Commodities Broker/Insurance Agent’s home office as an Admin Assistant

I hadn’t worked for a few years because of some health issues, and I just needed to get out and make some money

I worked there 6 months

In that office he had a large/clunky PC computer which his young son would come in once in a while, and play a game called ‘World of Warcraft’

I hadn’t really played video games since the 70-80’s (Atari 2600 etc., Arcades etc.)

A lot of games were one person shooters, which did not interest me at all

Anyway

This game looked kinda cool, he’d go into a world and adventure etc.

I was a huge Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast in the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s, I really loved running them/world building/character creating, so this ‘World of Warcraft’ game (Also being fantasy Elfs etc.) made…

Rise of Ixis – 9 Days

RISE OF IXIS

(THE KNIGHTS OF AZREKON)

by Doragon (James Mahoney)

Part One – Darkness Enters Azrekon

Part Two – 9 Days

In the next 9 days, several things happened…

…Vesp made his way east with a multitude of both Ixis Followers & Summoned Demons from Ixis

When they reached the Eastern Coast of Azrekon, construction of 8 Shadow Ships began…

…fuelled by Shadow Magic

Meanwhile, the High Priest Evory Tybarro headed south with his own legion of Ixis Followers to court and/or demand an alliance between the Dark Forces of Ixis & the Dragonclaw Orcs to the south, in the Capital City/Village of Fhor’tog…

The Dragonclaw War Chief Brotar, being no fool, did just that

…the remaining Dark Knights of Azrekon & Warlock Priests of Ixis stayed in Northern Azrekon with the majority of Ixis Followers who continued building Ixis’s great fortress as well as many watch towers throughout the surrounding areas

Once the first Shadow Ship was constructed, Vesp boarded it with his Demons and Ixis Followers & sailed northeast to the southern shores of Cerces…

…once there quickly seizing control of the villages to the south, connecting to the Dragonclaw forces to the southeast and preparing to seize control of the Elves of the Dragon Forests to the southwest…

…meanwhile, the southern terrain of Cerces turned black as the Northern Azrekon’s terrain had…

…the land dying

Rise of Ixis – Darkness Enters Azrekon

RISE OF IXIS

(THE KNIGHTS OF AZREKON)

by Doragon (James Mahoney)

Part One – Darkness Enters Azrekon

The quiet, brewing heat and bubbling of the lava of Northern AZREKON simmers

For miles and miles hard rock with lava streams fill the zone, with two larger streams to the east & west heading south into great pools of lava

Suddenly a purple-blue portal opens & out steps a large Black Knight…

…VESP

Followed by a black & white robed pale skinned human with glowing green eyes and white & black hair…

…EVORY TYBARRO, High Priest & Warlock of IXIS, a Dark God from the Netherworld

‘So this is home…’ speaks Evory in an ominous, freshly born, yet crackly voice

Soon hundreds upon hundreds of Ixis Followers begin to pour out of the portal which stands some 12 foot tall & 18 foot wide…

…they begin picking up rock from the landscape with lifeless eyes & building the Fortress of Ixis

Vesp turns towards Evory with glowing purple blue eyes within his black helmet then starts his way east, many followers behind him

‘The Shadow Ships must be built with haste,’ Evory speaks at Vesp who does not acknowledge him & soon disappears behind great lava rock…

…meanwhile the ground beneath the Ixis Knight, Warlock & Followers begins to die & turn from the grey lava rock to a charred black rock steaming with death

Seven more Dark Knights & five more Warlock Priests soon exit the portal as well…

…Darkness enters Azrekon

The Paladin EnLarra

The Paladin EnLarra

by DORAGON

Part I

Her horse MERA burst through the summer sands that brushed across both her gold & white hooded form, as well as her steed’s, as she leaned forward to make her horse go faster…

‘So many lies were told this night,’ she thought to herself as she did her best to stay focused on the hoof catching terrain

‘Especially about my sister.’

The rider would keep heading east for two to three more hours before stopping at a small oasis near the edge of the desert she road to feed her horse…

She dismounted & tied Mera to a nearby palm tree where she dipped down and drank

Meanwhile the rider pulled back her hood to reveal a fair skinned girl in her twenties with extremely light blue green eyes & white golden hair

Her name is ENLARRA…

…her last name she left behind her

‘I have so much further to go… But so much of that journey will be by sea,’ she thought to herself

She then reached down at her side where there was a small maroon velvet pouch tied to her soft brown belt, ‘I just hope I have enough silver to get me there’

Just then three dark horse riders appeared from the night…

…bandits judging by their tussled, well used robes & hats of browns oranges and tans

EnLarra pulled her hood back over her head & began untying her Mera from the tree

The riders dismounted…

‘Well, what have we here,’ spoke the gruffest, drunkest one with a long black beard

‘A girl no less,’ spoke the second, shorter, brown haired one, a crooked smile with two gold teeth glaring

EnLarra mounted, but said nothing, then road off quickly…

The last rider did not look amused, ‘Get her money pouch,’ he spoke as he began to build a fire but first dipped his head in the oasis

The other two riders looked at one another, both with unappealing grins, mounted their horses, and were after her

Emory, A Warlock Born (Part V) Into The Lashing Wild

Part IV

Part V – Into The Lashing Wild

For the next ten to 15 minutes I felt nothing but the lashing cold and branches of the surrounding mountain forests…

…with an occasional drop which my pilfered guard’s horse seem to cope with just fine

I could hear nothing but the sharp winds and crunching snow beneath my horse’s hooves, and the sheer silence that still seemed to creep its’ way in between the resounding winter storm

Then we slid down the side of part of the mountain, some four of five hundred feet…

…I was thrown from the horse, which ran off

Can’t say I blame him

I’m left the blasting storm, and the silence that perhaps only I can hear

‘WHERE TO NOW BOY…’ the voice mocking me once more, I ignored it

If if…

Part IV – Ice Town

When I walked in, the place was a rumble of drunken chatter, clattering plates & Bard music…

Still, a couple keen eyes definitely noted my black skin, small horned head and slightly glowing violet eyes

I sat

‘What have yah?’ spoke a dark haired barmaid before i’d hardly landed on my chair

‘Uh…’ just as I realized I had no coin, for I never left my father’s home in Nessus, I suddenly felt the weight of a black velvet purse upon my belt

I reached down and felt many a coin within

‘Wine… And… Stew’ I spoke, and she was off

Feeling hyper vulnerable to criticism due to my breed of creature, I was reluctant to bring down my high collar

‘What are yah then?’ suddenly spoke a deep, rounded voice

I looked…

My First 6 Months Of Being A Professional Dungeon Master

In the last week of December, I decided to give Professional Dungeon Mastering a try

I’ve been Playing/Dungeon Mastering Dungeons & Dragons on and off for 35+ years, it’s one of my greatest joys

Being I’ve always Homebrewed (Created my own material), as opposed to using official or 3rd party books & material, I decided I would start by using a 5e (D & D 5th Edition) Module I wrote and published two years prior (2019)

That way I’d be super familiar with the material I was running

Generally I ran ‘Theater of the Mind’ when I DM’d (Dungeon Mastered) campaigns, but because it was Professional Dungeon Mastering, and people were paying me, I decided to also include Roll 20 so that I could include maps etc.

I started with a Thursday game, then a Friday game, but soon combined the two to make one Friday Game

This game has been running since the last week of December, some Players came, some went, but currently has two of the remaining January Joined Players still in it

I have found the biggest challenge during this 6 months has been when a certain Player is a bit ‘challenging’ to play with, more so for the other Players, then I

I did need to remove two Players during the last 6 months, but one was pretty quick and included a schedule aspect, but the second played with the group for several sessions and I did all I could to keep him

In the end, he completely understood

Sometimes it’s just a bad fit

My Second Campaign began at the end of February, but instead of Frost Rhealm, I created a land called Thunsorra

A single continent world which has some ‘mythical’ mysteries afoot

Originally this began with a single Player, and went on for several weeks that way

But then at the end of March, I was hired through my Profile for a Custom Game Time by a group of 4 people who also chose the Thunsorra Setting

In May I moved my lone Saturday Player to my Friday group for the summer, as he is a teacher, so had the summer off

In mid June I created a Third Campaign called ‘ICERN’, there are several continents in ICERN, but the largest in the center of the land has been plagued with evil which now looks to seize the remaining lands

I’ve had a great time, and gotten quite used to playing with people I had never met before, the most important thing to me as a Dungeon Master I find, is that the Player has enthusiasm for the game

Which all of my Players have had
